Here’s a honest and well-preserved example of Fender’s offset icon from the golden era. This 1964 Jaguar, finished in the classic three-tone sunburst, is a vibey, all-original pre-CBS example with the exception of a vintage correct replacement bone nut - the original nut is included in the case.

The neck is dated November 1964 and sports pearl dot inlays, placing it right at the transition point between the most coveted period of Fender production and the CBS acquisition that followed. The neck has a comfortable, medium feel — not too slim, not too chunky — and the short scale adds that distinctive slinky playability that has drawn players to Jags since the '60s.

Tonally, it delivers exactly what you want from a vintage Jaguar: a bright, articulate voice with tight low end, clear mids, and that snappy response that works equally well for twangy surf lines, angular indie riffs or layered studio textures. All electrics are original and work as they should — crisp, clear, and full of character.

Cosmetically, there’s honest play wear throughout, including the odd ding and knock as you’d expect from a 60-year-old instrument that’s been used but not abused. The finish has developed some attractive fine lacquer checking. Nothing is over-worn or abused — just the right amount of wear for a vintage Fender that still retains its integrity and charm.

It comes in its original black tolex no logo Fender case, completing a tidy and collectable package. These mid-‘60s Jags are becoming increasingly harder to find in clean, original condition.
