Here we have a fully original 1971 Fender Precision Bass in classic sunburst finish with a rosewood fingerboard. It includes the original chrome pickup and bridge covers, original Italian distributor Fender-branded hard case, and even the original user manual and warranty card—a rare and welcome bonus. The only change is a replaced output jack with the correct Switchcraft unit; the original jack is included in the case should you want to reinstall it.
The original grey-bottom pickups sound absolutely as they should — warm, punchy, and tight in the low end with just the right amount of midrange growl. It's that unmistakable classic P-Bass tone that holds down the mix with authority.
Condition is very clean overall, especially for a 50+ year-old instrument. There’s some honest natural play wear: a small patch of buckle rash on the back, a few dings and paint chips along the edges, but nothing excessive or unsightly. The finish has aged nicely and the hardware has a lightly dulled patina that looks just right.
The neck feels superb with minimal fret wear, and there’s some really attractive flame figuring visible on the back of the neck and headstock face. It plays beautifully all over the board with a medium-low action and that classic late-‘60s/early-‘70s Fender P feel. Like many P Basses from 1971 it left the factory without a date stamp but the neck is the typical late 60's/early 70's B neck with a 41mm nut width. If you're used to playing a Jazz Bass for example with its 38mm nut width then transitioning to this P Bass won't feel like too much of handful, like the earlier C neck profile P Basses might do.
