One piece mahogany back topped with a plain maple two piece top. Nitro finish. Fret edge binding 'nibs'. Open book headstock shape. All the good stuff which makes Love Rocks from this era highly sought after.
Includes some really good upgrades such as 'Fake 58' wiring harness with CTS pots, Sprague PIO Bumblebee caps and Switchcraft toggle switch and output jack. Faber nickel plated ABR-1 bridge and lightweight aluminium tailpiece with locking studs. Lightly aged ivory coloured CAB M69 pick-up rings. The original harness, bridge, tailpiece and pick-up rings are included in the case.
The nut was replaced in the late 90's with a bone nut as the original was worn and buzzing.
The neck profile is a very comfortable medium C which sits somewhere between a chunky ‘59 profile and the slimmer ‘60 profile. The action is slinky and effortless all the way up the board.
The original pair of PAF spec humbuckers deliver the classic quintessential burst tone, as you’d expect. Tokai Love Rocks from the late 70’s to the mid 80’s really are superb guitars and at the time were capable of out performing the Gibson counterparts from the same era.
There is some natural play wear such as some light buckle rash, a small amount of arm wear, a handful of small nicks and light finish wear on the back edges - see pics. Overall it is in great condition and very clean for a 40 plus year old guitar. It has been well cared for over the years. Comes with a hard shell case.
