Combining pre-war inspired specifications with the superb craftsmanship of Martin's modern era, the OM-28VR offers the perfect blend of articulate fingerstyle response, dynamic flatpicking capability and exceptional all-round versatility.

Finished in Martin's timeless Style 28 appointments, the guitar features a solid Sitka spruce top paired with East Indian rosewood back and sides, herringbone top purfling, an ebony fingerboard and bridge, ageing toner finish and open-gear butterbean tuners. The modified V-profile mahogany neck provides a reassuringly substantial yet comfortable feel in the hand, while the wider pre-war specification nut width and string spacing make this model particularly appealing to fingerstyle players, offering plenty of room for intricate picking patterns. The long 25.4" scale length further enhances projection, dynamic range and note definition. True to vintage spec the OM-28VR incorporates 1/4" scalloped forward shifted X bracing which provides some extra volume and projection when compared to a 000-28 for example.

The Orchestra Model body shape has long been prized for its remarkable balance across the frequency spectrum, delivering clear, piano-like bass response, articulate mids and sparkling trebles. Equally at home in the hands of fingerstyle players, singer-songwriters and flatpickers alike, the OM-28VR remains one of Martin's most versatile and enduring designs.

This particular example is presented in excellent overall condition for its age, showing only a handful of light surface scratches and a few small indentations consistent with careful, natural use over the years. It has clearly been well looked after and retains all the character and appeal that only a mature, well-played Martin can offer.

An appealing addition is the superb Sunrise pickup system, widely regarded as one of the finest magnetic soundhole pickups available. The pickup connects via a discreet mini-jack socket concealed behind one of the X-braces, allowing it to be easily installed or removed as required while preserving the guitar's originality and appearance. The accompanying Sunrise preamp is housed in a separate external unit designed to sit outside the guitar, for example incorpoarated into a pedalboard setup.

Comes with the original Martin hard shell case, itself a faithful reissue of Martin's classic vintage-style cases, featuring the distinctive green crushed velvet interior.

An increasingly desirable model among players and collectors alike, this early OM-28VR captures everything that makes Martin's Vintage Series so highly regarded: classic aesthetics, exceptional craftsmanship and a rich, responsive voice that continues to develop with age.
