This Strat looks and sounds fantastic. Finished in a tasteful Journeyman relic job in Sherwood Green (which always looks great on Strats) and including a set of Josefina Campos hand-wound Ancho Poblano pickups, which deliver a slightly hotter vintage Strat tone with plenty of depth and bite.
It is largely true to 1960 specs but with a few modern tweaks, such as the 10” fretboard radius and medium jumbo frets, which facilitates easy note bending, and also the modern wiring scheme which has the second tone control wired to the middle and bridge pick up for greater tonal versatility. It also features Fender ‘Greasebucket’ tone circuit for further control – according to Fender this means that when rolled down, the tone pot reduces the high frequencies, but does not add bass.
The neck profile is fairly true to the early 60’s Fender neck dimensions going from relatively slim at the first fret (0.82”) and up to a chunkier (0.974”) at the 12th fret, and is topped off with an attractive dark rosewood board.
This really is a classy Custom Shop creation that sounds and plays every bit as good as it looks.
