These Ocean Turquoise Metallic (OTM) Crafted In Japan (CIJ) Jaguars have become highly sought after as they were only ever available in limited numbers and rarely come up for sale. Originally made only for sale in Japan, a very small number of these found their way into the UK.

With its matching headstock and greener vintage looking Ocean Turquoise Metallic finish (as opposed to the newer bluer version of OTM) this Jag is certainly a head turner. In our opinion OTM, along with the similar Sherwood Green, is the best looking Custom Colour on a Jaguar. There’s just something about the offset body shape and chrome control plates combination that pops and looks so cool when combined with either OTM or Sherwood Green.

Billed as a ’66 Jaguar reissue, with it’s unbound neck, wider 12th fret inlays and green guard it in fact looks a lot closer to a ’63 Jaguar. The build quality on this Jaguar is of an exceptionally high quality, as to be expected of Fender Japan, and the overall condition is very good. There are a number of small dings and nicks to the thin skin finish on the body which give it a lightly relic’d vibe. There is also a ding at the top of the headstock.

The neck has a comfortable medium C profile with lightly rolled edges to the 7.25in radius rosewood board. The frets show some light wear but have many years life left in them. Currently set up with a set of 11-48 gauge strings the action plays easily on the 24in scale length with no buzzing.

Sonically it is everything you’d expect of a classic Fender Jaguar. Acoustically it has a good resonance with a nice mid-range punch. The pick-ups and switching options provide a wide tonal palette to work with, and a clarity and twang that will always cut through a mix.

Comes in a gig bag. The trem arm is missing but these are easy to source for little money.

If you’ve been looking for the rare OTM Fender Japan Jaguar then here’s a great opportunity. These don’t come up for sale very often.
