No matter what one’s opinion is of relic’d guitars sometimes one comes along that just looks and feels right, with just the right amount of ageing to lend it an authentic, well played, vintage look and feel. This Limited Edition Custom Shop Strat is one such guitar. Built specifically for sale only at Winter NAMM 2020 (the final NAMM before the pandemic), the Fender Custom Shop has pulled out the stops to produce a superb reissue of a classic Olympic White 1960 Stratocaster.
This Strat looks and sounds fantastic. The relic job is first class and the hand-wound Texas Special pickups deliver a classic vintage Strat tone with plenty of depth and bite. It is true to 1960 specs but with a few modern tweaks, such as the 9.5” fretboard radius and jumbo frets, which facilitates easy note bending, and also the vintage modified #2 wiring scheme which has the second tone control wired to the bridge pick up for greater tonal versatility.
As to be expected the standard of craftmanship and quality of materials is the best available and the Fender Custom Shop seem to go the extra mile with these NAMM Limited Editions.
